Default Win XP SP2 firewall & MS Antispyware (Beta 1)

Several days ago I installed MS Antispyware on Windows XP (HE) SP2. It found
lots of spyware items and I allowed removing ALL of them. Next reboot
brought a message that my firewall is OFF. I followed all available tips,
but could not switch it ON. Then, I uninstalled Antispyware and found the
firewall ON. Next, I re-installed Antispyware and got the firewall OFF. I
uninstalled Antispyware, but NOW I cannot restore the ON state of the
firewall. I have exhausted all my computer knowledge to solve this problem,
but to no avail. Please, help!

I am a new user so will keep my reply simple.
I had the same problem and found that when I remove
Marketscore.InternetAccelerator spyware my firewall turned off. If you can't
get it back on by all other means then maybe you could uninstall SP2 and
reinstall. Then work through each spyware detected untill you find the
problen spyware. As yet i have not found a way of removing the Marketscore
spyware. even putting it in quarantine turnes off the fire wall. If you find
a fix please let me know!!

The situation may be different, but the fix may work.
