Default Unable to Connect to the Web

I am running an eMachine C2825, XP home on a cable modem. The cable modem is
operating properly, connected to the Internet (verified with ISP and by using
a different computer). The e Machine retrieves a valid IP address when it is
networked to the modem but will not access any web sites (no server found).
This is true whether trying via IE, NETSCAPE, Firefox or through an
application. All firewalls removed and I did a complete system restore of
the OS- no change. I can access the web via dial-up. Any suggestions on how
to proceed appreciated.

Hi

Could be the ISP uses the MAC number of the computer that does work as mean
of password, and thus when switching computers it does not work.

May be this can Help: How to Fix Cable/DSL Internet authentication
(password). - http://www.ezlan.net/broadband.html
