Setting up demonstration PC, want to limit access to installed programs
Hello group,
Laptop with XP Pro SP2. Will be used to demonstrate certain applications. I want to create a user account and then cherry-pick which of the installed programs (which I installed as admin) can be accessed from the limited account. I created a limited account from the XP control panel but there is still full access to all installed programs. Any pointers of FAQ's gratefully received. -- Regards Jon |

You have two options. Either use NTFS permissions to restrict what
applications a user can run or use Software Restriction Policies. Probably the easiest solution for you will be to change the NTFS permissions on the folder where the application is located so that the users/everyone groups does not have any permissions. Most likely the applications you want to restrict are under the program files folder. The first link below explains more on setting NTFS permissions. The second link is on how to configure Software Restriction Policies using Local Security Policy which is very powerful but somehwat complex to implement. --- Steve http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308418 --- NTFS permissions. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../rstrplcy.mspx --- XP SRP "Jon" wrote in message et...
