I have been trying to burn a DVD on my DVD+R cd. That is not the problem.

I am using Sonic DigitalMedia to burn my CD. When I open the program it
gives me an error message saying:
"MyDVD has detected that DMA is turned off for one or more of the recording
devices attatched to the system. In order to successfully write to the
device, DMA should be turned on..."

I have then been to other sites that tell me how to go through Control Panel
& System & Device Manager to look at my IDE ATA/ATAPI contollers. My Primary
IDE Channel is fine - it uses "DMA if available". My Secondary IDE Channel,
however, I am not able to select "Auto Selection" but the transfer mode is in
"DMA if available". MY PROBLEM: My current transfer mode is PIO mode and that
is what is making me not be able to burn my DVDs.

I have been told uninstalling my driver then reinstalling it will fix this
problem. How exactly is that done? Do I need something to reinstall it, or
will it be as simple as going to Secondary IDE Channel and clicking
"Reinstall"?

Open Device Manager and highlight any and all DVD drives, remove them,
reboot and let Windows re-detect them.

Are all my DVD drives the ones under IDE ATA/ATAPI devices (my primary &
secondary channels)? If not, do I only need to remove those two? When I
restart my computer, Windows will say that I have drives that can be
installed and ask me if I want to? Once they are reinstalled, my problem
should be fixed?

Thanks, Teri

Jerry's advice is good, just try that.
On reboot, windows wizard will report that new hardware found
and installing, you don't have to do anything else.
