Default Noisy CD-RW drive

Greetings. Lately, my CD-RW drive becomes noisy when I run a disk-
burning program like Nero; it sounds like the CD is rattling in the
drive as it spins up. Is this the sign of a drive that's wearing out?
It won't burn CDs reliably any more. Thanks.

It could be that the spindle that captures and centers the CD is not doing
its job.
Try cleaning the drive (Compressed air with the tray open), it a long shot
but maybe.

If that doesn't work I think you drive is not long for this world.

Probably. Bearing wear allows wobble. Wobble won't allow
the tracks to burn or read as perfect concentric circles,
result, a coaster.

You can buy a DVD-RW DL drive for very little money and do a
real upgrade for $30-70, a direct swap. They are also very
fast.

Thanks both for your advice. I guess it's time to buy a new drive!
