Default unable to play DVD

My Dimension B110 can't play any DVDs. Talked to dell chat and was sent the
PowerDVD with decoder. Device Manager indicates D/E ROM working properly. When
play DVD from My Computer tab nothing happens. After DVD is inserted nothing
really happens, not even any error message! Disc worked on different
computer. Can anyone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?

I have a similar problems with my DVD players.
After 12 years of agrevation with PC's, I'm finally giving up and getting an
Apple Computer next time around.

Yeah, that's a really good solution, good luck with that.

Yep, it's a good thing Apple switched to PC's isn't it!

Are you being sarcastic or really agreeing with me?

I have spent many nights upgrading my PC systems over the years with much
aggrevation.
A few of my friends have Macs and they say they never have any problems what
so ever with their hardware or software.
Not sure how true that is; but I'm willing to give it a try and see.

The best of both worlds, it's about time!
All the PC manufacturers better get on the good foot or they will lose so
much revenue.
They have to come out with a system that can dual boot with Apple.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that is ready to make the switch.
I also hear they provide excellent tech support and it's FREE for life from
what I understand.
Their memory costs a fortune; but it much be top of the line stuff.
Better off getting 3rd party memory cards.

You seem to have it backwards. Apple now sells PC's. You can BUY and
install Windows on an Apple PC. You can't buy OSX all by itself, so the
"dual boot" you envision is set up on an "Apple", not the other way around.

I don't have it backwards, I know about the Intel chip for the Apple
computer that allows for booting Win XP & soon Vista.
That's why I said the PC manufacturers better develop a system that can boot
OSX.

That would be a case of Apple requesting that they develop something to
supply to Apple. You may not be aware of this but Apple tried
"licensing" once before, and it wasn't a good thing for them. I think
one, that they haven't forgot about that episode yet, and two,
Microsofts WGA is getting a lot of negative press.

Thanks for your comments, but I can't afford another computer right now. Mine
is less than a month old!

Eddie;

If that's the case then you should be contacting the PC manufacturer's
technial support team to resolve your issue.
A one month old computer shouldn't have this sort of problem.
Maybe the device is defective. Did you modify anything on your system that
might mess up your DVD player?

PS: I'm sorry about changing your thread's subject matter; but I'm just very
frustraded and had to release some tension.
