IE/Help & Support/WindowsUpdate and McAfee
One of my users has WINXP w/SP2 on our network.
We also run McAfee ePO AV/Anti-spam software, which was mal-functioning, and had to be removed. (We do it by using the Uninstall Wizard, removing the Network Assoc directory under Program Files, and, in the registry, remove references to "McAfee", "McShield" & "Network Associates" (except for any entries beginning with "LEGACY"). When this is done, we re-push out the ePO software/service. The user has Admin rights to the PC, since it's a laptop and he's in and out of the office. The user said the was unable to view some web pages using IE (additionally, our timesheet program is run through IE ("BST"), which also wouldn't run). When I went to the laptop, I poked around; I also checked his IE Security and Advanced settings - IE was set as any other PC on our network. I also logged in as myself and had the same problem. I went into Start/Help & Support, to do a System Restore. Help & Support wouldn't run, nor would going into Start...System Tools and running Sys Restore. I then tried WindowsUpdate. That wouldn't work either. Anyone with any ideas? Bueller? |
