Default Modem wont work in xp help needed

I have a dual boot system. XP and 98se.

I have several pci slots and two isa slots.

The ISA slot sound card works without a problem in both 98se and xp.

The ISA modem drivers work in windows 98se.

The ISA modem drivers don't work in windows xp sp3.

My ISA modem is cl-md56xx (Cirrus logic)

My pci modem card quit, that worked in both 98se and xp.

I tried the standard modem bit in xp. It didn't work.

Anybody got a fix?

Greg

Some help, not what I wanted to hear. I was hopping there was a
tweak. I keep wasting money on pci modem. Some work in 98se fine
but don't work in xp and visa versa. Frankly, I am tired of wasting
my money.

On the modem part. My sound card is ESS1868 ISA and works without a
problem in xp.

Xp should recognize the ISA modem, at least as a standard modem.
Like the do the ISA sound card.

The only other option is to reinstall xp and see if xp will detect my
modem.

Greg

You can always try a USB modem:

Hi Greg

I have found installation of modem often a pain in the b..t

Yesterday I bought a new xp system for my office and spent some time get
an old aopen modem to be recognized.

I did lots things and do not remember what worked.

I went to the device driver and removed the drivers for com ports

I went to the Modem in control panel and removed the modem

I then rebooted and the modem was recognised.
