Default MSN and Windows Messenger icons

Greetings James,

Are you sure you don't have MSN Messenger 5 installed? Try running it and see what
happens -- you can always remove MSN Messenger 5 by clicking Start, Control Panel, Add or
Remove Programs, click MSN Messenger 5 and then choose Remove.

Hi,

I just updated Windows Messenger to version 4.7.2005. Now I have noticed
there are two icons in the All Programs menu - Windows Messenger and MSN
Messenger. I do not have MSN Messenger installed.

Why is MSN Messenger there?

Thanks
James

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the reply. Yep, I'm sure I don't have MSN Messenger 5 installed
(but I have the MSN add-in for Windows Messenger). When "MSN Messenger" is
opened from the start menu, it opens up Windows Messenger. Also, it doesn't
have the MSN Messenger logo (the one with the butterfly) - it is identical
to the Windows Messenger one. This is the target for MSN Messenger:
"C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" (which is the same as Windows
Messenger.

Thanks
James

Hi James,

I'm not sure how that got there, but it's completely safe to delete (from what you've
described).
