how do you stop the messenger alerts from comming up?

Greetings,

If you mean the "user has signed in" etc. alerts, you can turn these off by opening the main
Messenger window, click the Tools menu, then Options, then Preferences tab (or General if
you're using MSN Messenger 5) and unchecking the options under the 'Alerts' category.

If you mean the actual Alerts, go to the Alerts tab, and at the bottom there's a toggle to
turn alerts on or off.
