Windows keyboard layout
I have 3 computers with Windows 8.1. Two have US keyboard and one has
UK. The one with UK keyboard needs telling on every boot that it is UK. Anyone any idea why this happens? Regards -- Chris Elvidge England

Cheers I had a similar problem on my Windows 7 laptop. It's a Canadian model, supporting both English and French on the same keyboard. The OS shows support for two keyboard mappings. I would be typing along, and in mid-sentence, the keyboard would change from English to French. And some of the key mappings there are different, so any new text would be all messed up. The solution was, to remove one of the key mappings, so the OS had no choice but to use the one remaining (English) mapping. Haven't had a problem since. Paul

But also had to change the values for Welcome screen and system accounts. TBH Microsoft is still too US biased. Best keyboard I ever had was a Dell Canadian Multilingual Standard. Cheers Maybe MS tied the keyboard to the time zone also ? KenW It seems it' probably tied to my Microsoft account! I got the computer with UK keyboard to always boot to a UK keyboard. Now my other two with US keyboards boot to UK keyboard too. Perhaps I'll have to ask Microsoft whether this is a feature or a bug - bet it's a feature. -- Chris Elvidge England
