Default Changing where windows places new icons

All my shortcuts, saved images, documents etc. are save to my desktop. But
they are always save way over on the left. I want them save in the center of
the desktop. Is this possible?

Oreally

Sure. Right click desktop / view / turn off auto arrange.
Then drag your items to where ever.

The Icon Configuration Utility (ICU) from
http://funk.eu/icu-icon-configuration-utility/ has the capability of
setting where a new icon on your desktop goes. The primary purpose of
ICU, however, is to save your desktop layout so that you can later
restore it.

You can also use a program called Fences from Stardock

Price is very affordable

Reading that page, I see "You can decide what to do with any icons that
have been added since you last saved the configuration file – the
default is to put them in the top-left corner, but you can also banish
them way off-screen or, more sensibly, specify a location for them." -
which to me sounds as if it lets you specify where _icons that have been
created since you last did a save_, i. e. it moves them there when you
do a restore - not quite what OREALLY wanted, which was to specify where
new ones go _when they're created_.

(I'd never put them in the middle of the screen as that's the most
likely place to be obscured by windows, popups, splash screens ... but
each to his own!)

But new ones will still appear at the left, working down from the
top. I think the OP wants to change the default "where do new icons
get created" location, but I'm not aware of any way to do that.

I see. Yea, you are probably correct about op wanting to save to elsewhere.

No way to change Registry to make Windows remember where last saved icon
goes on the DT?
