Default System font changed

Since a batch of updates got installed a few days ago, my Windows system
looks different. It looks as if there has been a subtle change to some
fonts. Menu items in Office apps look different and seem to have grown a
bit in size. I see no change in some fonts in applications - like this
Gravity newsreader and would not expect to, but the office apps have
definitely changed and I'm finding other non-Office apps that have too.
*Some* of Chrome's menus look different. I didn't find anything reading
the update descriptions but I'll take another, closer look.
Any idea what happened or am I simply crazy?

If you (prudently) saved earlier Win7 desktops you liked
you can:
1. Save today's under a new name.
2. Restore an earlier desktop.
3. Inspect for differences.

Desktop itself looks the same. Labels on tabs in Office apps and in
Chrome and some other apps are definitely larger than they were and are I
think in a slightly different font.

Might be a side effect of KB 3097877 which is apparently causing other problems
with Outlook according to http://tinyurl.com/ncupn8x

Might be. Thanks. It's not just Office apps, though. Right-click context
menu fonts are much larger than they were. I can live with it, but I'm
wondering just where the settings for this live (in the Registry?).

I think I found it. This MS article explains how to change many settings.
Under "Menu" I reduced the font size by two points and now everything
looks like I remember. Here's the souce:

Default Similar problem with Nov. 10 updates

Hi, hope some kind soul can help with this head scratcher . . .

My wife and I have the identical same computer, (purchased at the same
time, too) and I elected to install the list of updates for today - no
problem. She elects to let Windows install any update with no intervention
from her. On her update, the process went into a "dead loop" as it were at
update #11 of 13. The usual drill: Introductory screen "Installing 11 of
13. Please do not turn off your computer". After 2 1/2 hours of that (hard
drive light has not gone on during that time), I elected to shut it down.
Unplugged it. Waited five minutes, then plugged back in and pressed the
"Start" button. Immediately returns to the "Installing update 11 of 13"
window. You cannot get to anything else in windows. Tried the F8 trick
(boot options), same result. Help, please???

I take it this is a Windows 7 machine ?

Do you have the failing number of the update KBxxxxxxx ?

Does disconnecting the network cable before the machine
is rebooted, stop the update process ? If it does,
you can download the borked update as a separate file. And
you can even do that for Windows 10, as there is a
"catalog" microsoft site that holds all the updates.

I gave the machine 45 minutes of down time, then tried rebooting
again. This time it went normally and at theF8 prompt, I chose "last
known good configuration". That completed without incident. Then I went
to the "Windows Update" folder and eliminated (hid) all updates for Nov.
10 except the MSRT, whihc installed normally. Everything fine again now.
