Default Laptop Mouse

Coming back from hibernation the mousepad seems to always be there;
however, the USB mouse is sometimes immediately there and sometime is
not. If I wait a long time, a minute or two, sometimes the USB mouse
shows up. Other times I have to unplug/plug in the mouse and yet still
wait for the USB mouse to show up.

How do I get the USB mouse to promptly show up when coming out of
hibernation. I usually only do hibernation so I am not sure if a cold
boot plays the same tricks.

Is there a way to force the USB mouse drivers or whatever to get to the
top of the list to run?

Suggestions please.

If you use a mouse driver that came with your USB mouse package, it could be
due to buggy mouse driver, so you might want to check for a newer version,
if any. Or if Windows' built-in drivers can detect it, use that instead
(note: may not be comptible with the applications bundled with your mouse
package).

What brand and model is your mouse? Cause, there's also a possibility of a
faulty or low quality product, and I have a similar issue except that mine
is a bluetooth access point device where it won't be detected after a system
reboot but detected only after a computer power off.

Do you really mean hibernation or are you sleeping/suspending your
machine. There's a difference.

Hibernation actually powers down your computer, but stores its state, so
when restarted it returns to exactly where you left it. It's like a
"smart" cold boot. Sleep/Suspend on the other hand keeps the machine
powered and running, but in a very minimal power use mode, so it can
return quickly -- usually a matter of seconds -- to where you left
off.
