I can remotely manage a router I have set up from my XP x64 machine. I
want to add this machine to that remote router's network. That would mean
adding my machine to it via an IP address. Does anyone here know what I am
talking about and how I can do it? There is the "net" command but I don't
know much about it.

Bill,

Assuming that you mean that that router is not located in your own LAN (but
at somebodies elses place, which you connect to thru over the internet):

It looks like you are talking about a VPN. Which, apart from its name and
what its used for, know nothing about. Sorry.

Yes at my Mom's house I have her computer, printer, and a tablet on my
router there. They can be accessed by me here from my apartment by my
computer through my router. I wanted to add to that local network my machine
via the internet. I'll do some research thanks anyway.

From your two posts you have a VPN between two home networks X and Y.
You seem to be saying that you can access X from Y and now you want to
access Y from X. Why does this need a different method?

I can access the router remotely as administrator. Not as a lan to lan.
I do not have to enter the password a device would need to access the router
as a member of the lan. I would think the router's DHCP would need to assign
my PC a LAN IP. XP allows VPN access. But I belief the router's gateway is
what I should be accessing as an IP.
