Default Changing Font Color

I am currently running Windows XP Home. I have spent half
the night trying to figure out how to change the color of
my desktop icon fonts. I have white and want to change
them to black. I went to appearances, advanced, clicked on
icon and was able to change the icon itself, but it won't
let you change the color. Does anyone know how to do this?
I would so appreciate your help. Please e-mail me at my
aol address if you can help! Thanks so much for your time.

This colour is worked out automatically.

If your labels have transparent backgrounds then the text is white. If =
your labels do not have transparent backgrounds then it is white if a =
dark background colour is chosen and black if a light background colour =
is chosen.

To rurn off transparency
1.. Right-click My Computer and then click Properties.=20
2.. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings
and clear Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop

You set the desktop background colour in the same dialog you tried to =
set the icon colour.
