I have a feeling that your laptop is a Dell. This has been a common issue
with Dell laptops lately. Here is what i think the solution to your problem
is.... i hope.

Go to Start, Control Pannel, Power Options

Go top the Hibernate tab and click on Enable Hibernation

Then go to the Power Schemes tab... and set System Standby" to never and
System Hibernates to whatever time you want.

its kinda odd but it seems that when its on standby it freezes up. Let me
know if this works for you.
