Default How do I install a hotfix I have been sent by MS

Hi "John" - it was one I requested from MS. It was a link with a password.

I finally got further instructions from MS and they say to unistall SP3,
install the hotfix and reinstall SP3.

This looks really complicated and I ma concerned about doing so.

And for WHICH hotfix was that?
And was it AFTER you contacted Microsoft that you got the e-mail?
Hotfixes that I've got had them giving me an FTP download, NEVER e-mail.
So just how do YOU know the hotfix came from Microsoft?
Hi, I'm John. So am I really John simply because I said so?

I followed the link sent by MS. It was password protected, so I entered the
password MS had supplied and got a message that the files had been
successfully unzipped.

However, there seems to be nothing happening.

There is a shortcut on my desktop, but I cannot figure out whether the fix
is running or not.

Surely, like other zip files, you need to do something with them once you
have unzipped them?

Thanks everyone.

MS will send you an email to a direct download exe that will be password
protected. Inside that file should be an exe that you simply double click on
to install it.

In the same way as you normally install any other viruses. Viruses are
normally sent as zip files and these are from Microvirus suppliers.
