Win XP Serial device driver in Device manager
computer hp pavillion with win xp, now 2 years old. pc doctor states no
hardware failures. just did a D Recovery due to a com3 conflict. the Serial device has a yellow mark showing it's disabled. the properties give the following info-- non plug and play SERIAL Selected Resource ******************** *DISABLED DEVICE* Class: Non-Plug and Device: Serial No resources used. thank you. i have installed all updates and serial device driver do not show

thank you all. at present working modem uses com4 assigned by the computer.

COM 3 would normally show up when you install an internal analog dial-up modem. Does all your other devices show up? What comm ports are listed under Device Manager -- Ports ? What is the setting for all / any internal "dial-up" modems? Device: ECP would / should be your parallel printer port. You might want to re-configure the modem onto COM 1. |

Win XP Serial device driver in Device manager
thank you all. at present working modem uses com4 assigned by the computer.
