There is no Service Pack 3 for Windows XP Professional x64. If someone representing their support told you this - it is another case of getting uninformed support staff who insist they are informed. Did you try getting the latest 64-bit version of iTunes? v8.1.1 I believe... Left side of this page: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ "64-bit editions of Windows Vista or later require the iTunes 8 64-bit installer" ( http://support.apple.com/downloads/i...ndows__64_bit_ ) However - I know (by your post) you do not have Windows Vista x64 - so basically - you are left out in the cold (with Windows XP Professional x64) by Apple support. The closest thing to a 'might work, but we're doing nothing about it' I can find for you from Apple is: 64-bit editions of Windows Vista require iTunes 7.6 or later http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1426?viewlocale=en_US Which states: "Windows XP iTunes is currently not supported in Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. Features may or may not work correctly." Doing further Google searches implies people have gone as far as to 'crack' the supposed "Vista Only" x64 versions to work on Windows XP Professional x64. Essentially - you may be SoL, but a little research might get you what you want - or maybe just luck. I think it comes down to you being able to get it to work - somewhat - but not ever having any hope of it being supported by Apple. A guide to getting it installed (supposed): http://pctech.invisibill.net/?page_id=36 -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

xp pro x64 service pack 3 i pod touch
thanks for ure advice. the first thing i did myself was update my itunes but
it made no difference. im not one for getting cracked software i just always seem to end up downloading a virus or something but ill c if i know anyone who could look into it. I had thought this would happen anyway as I was havin enough problems with my old ipod on this operating system and i have had so many problems with programmes from the very start.. i might look into changing my operating system i got it because i was inform its good for animation but i personally cant see the difference between this and a 32 bit operating system apart from more programmes work with a 32 bit system thanks again -- Alan C "Shenan Stanley" wrote: Alan C wrote: I just bought an i pod touch 2nd gen and when i plug it in it think its a camera then when i go to i tunes it says i need to connect it to a computer with windows vista or 32 bit xp. is it possible for it to work on a windows xp professional x 64 edition. when i called apple they said i need a service pack 3. i have looked for a service pack three but cant find one for my operating system. has anyone had the same problem and do they know how to fix it. If you have (essentially) 3.1+GB of memory or less and no 64-bit only applications - you have no reason to be using 64-bit. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |
