If you are getting some message that doesn't seem right, try to post the entire message as bet you can. List what you have already done to try to get sfc working. |

... have pointed my SFC source to the C:\ and also to my CD drive and it still asks me for a source destination SFC /scannow has anyone got any idea's please Perhaps you need to add a filepath. SFC = System File Checker can run from a DOS prompt as well as Windows, so will display its basic parameters if you run simply SFC /? -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

Unless you have kept your repositories updated and they are on your SFC path... do not use SFC Problem is you can end up thinking you have corrupted files and replace them with older versions... especially if you use your CD Maybe you should post back with the exact problem your machine has and you can get some advice as to the best way to remediate the problem |

What is the Window XP SP update currently installed? What is the SP Update included in your Windows XP CD? If you have SP3 installed and SP2 or earlier on theWindows XP CD this would cause the kind of difficulty you describe. -- Hope this helps. If the computer has SP3 installed it will not accept a Windows XP SP2 CD. At least that is my experience. That is why slipstreaming is suggested. Try some research. -- Hope this helps. Well even if one uses an sp3 CD it's still not a good idea to use it... as the system probably has further updates. Unless the repository is updated and used as a source... it's probably not a good idea to use SFC |

In article ,
says... have pointed my SFC source to the C:\ and also to my CD drive and it still asks me for a source destination SFC /scannow has anyone got any idea's please With kind regards From WillofAustralia You should format your hard drive and start fresh -- - Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum. - Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist" (remove 999 for proper email address) |
