Is there a good but FREE image program?
I used Ghost some years back using ME/98 but most of the time it didn't
restore image - when needed.

Furthermore if I format a system partition, will i be able to restore image
without installing XP?
Cause I am using NTFS.

To assist you, perhaps? I'm certainly not doing it for my health.

He could find answers to several of these questions with a bit of googling.

I already googled before asking here, which came out with 78 programs on
first page only - i clicked.
I think you should learn from Airman Basic.
If you dont know leave it.

Will this also do Vista / Windows 7 and the 64 bit versions?

If you have a Western Digital, Seagate, or Maxtor drive (either installed in
the PC or used as an external drive), you can get Acronis True Image for
free from their web sites. It'll make an image of pretty much anything you
want, and doesn't rely on an OS to create or restore one. By creating the
boot disk with it, you bypass any installed OS and create the image from the
root level. I've used it to create and restore an XP PC and a Vista notebook
with absolutely no problems.

Just to add here.... Seagate has their version of Acronis available as
well. You just have to have a Seagate drive installed, either internal
or external. It lacks the ability to schedule backups but otherwise
just as good as the full version.

Have you purchased an Acronis application and was the image created using
the application?
