Default IE7 keeps crashing

My IE7 crashes or closes down with no warning when I try to close tabs. The
last time this happened I noticed, in event viewer, 32 identical instances of
the following:-

Event Type: Error
Event Source:
Event Category: None
Event ID: 0
Date: 25/01/2009
Time: 14:32:36
User: N/A
Computer: LEE

Description:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The
local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL
files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the
/AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for
details. The following information is part of the event: 1.

I would appreciate a concise explanation and solution if possible.

Thank you in advance
