Windows Explorer Replacement
Is there a Windows Explorer replacement that is very similar but fixes
the stupidy of WE? I do not want a learning curve, just something that works properly. Something that will take over as WE when WE is expected. e.g. when I open WE on a drive it gibes me an initial file order (wrong) then after a few seconds it resorts itself to the correct order. e.g. when I move the mouse over a pane and use the scroll wheel the other pane scrolls. e.g. the left pane tree never opens to the level of the right pane. And more ... All so stupid. --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: --- |

At the top of the left pane (Organize) Layout check only the first two options(this closes the left pane); now shortcut Ctrl N (this action now gives you two sessioins of explorer that you can move and resize to you how you want. You want something new, but you don't want spend some time exploring it? Maybe it's best you stay with Windows Explorer then? If you /do/ want to learn something new I'd suggest FreeCommander: http://freecommander.com/en/summary/ It's dual pane, showing all files, but if you want, you can show it as a tree as well. There's a portable version, so you can try it out without installing. Apparently, FC can be set up so it replaces WE. I haven't done this, but with these keywords you should find out how: freecommander default file manager -- s|b |

Something that will take over as WE when WE is expected. You could try Q-Dir, but the whole point of most replacements is that they add features and controls that Windows Explorer doesn't have. You won't find a workalike that you don't have to learn. http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Freeware/Q-Dir |
