Default Chrome Tarnished

On my Win XP PC. Chrome now has a banner that says
This computer will soon stop receiving Google Chrome updates ...

So,
(1) how do I get rid of that message?

(2) for my general usage what does that matter?

(3) beside Firefox, what is recommended browser for Win XP ?
Maxthon, Opera ???
I have played with these and they seem OK.

TBird and Seamonkey are snails. Seamonkey I only use for Newsgroups and
eMail. Poorly coded and addons poorly integrated but some very useful.

NOTE: to all. I will NEVER downgrade my Win XP machines to Win beyond
Win XP.

P.S. I do have Win7 and Win10 PCs and they have their place (in the
closet. lol) My main PC is Win7. I do like Win10 so far (came
installed on a new laptop).
Skipping Win8 entirely.

Upgrade your OS to Windows 7, windows 8.1 or Windows 10

Probably not.Â* You hav lived with unsecure Os for too long so browser security won't affect you.Â* You are a very careful user anyway unlike reckless users who install allsorts of cracks and trial software.Â* There aren't many trial software for XP these days so avoid installing cracks for software you are not likely to use.

(3) beside Firefox, what is recommended browser for Win XP ?
none I can think of.

Then use it.

You can't please everybody these days.Â*

So we know know how stupid you areÂ* not knowing the difference between uogrades, updates and down grade.Â* Perhaps research these words before moving further.

Reinforcing your stupidity which was not necessary here.

Try using the Application Compatibility Toolkit. AFAIK it can be used to
fake the Windows version number reported by the Windows API, for a specific
application.

I use Opera. The Presto version, not the Chromium one. Presto is old and not
all sites work on it but it has good built-in content blocking.

And Maxthon... Although it's quite good (much better than Chromium itself,
IMO), it's also more nosy than Chromium. It has the most built-in data
tracking than any other browsers out there. If you don't mind being tracked,
or you have your own HTTP filtering proxy to block the tracking data being
sent out, then use Maxthon.

I use Pale Moon, although it also no longer supports updates for XP.
Also try SeeMonkey (quite good) or K-Meleon (basic).

Old Guy:

Try this:

https://www.palemoon.org/palemoon-atom.shtml

While it is optimized for the specific processors mentioned it WILL run on
others - it just will not have the advantages of the optimizations.

+1.
I stopped at version 25.8.1, since the new version (ver 26) seems to be a
"significant upgrade" and is using a "new engine", as stated in the release
notes, and who knows what bugs lie within. I like Pale Moon better than
Firefox since it seems to initially load faster, and also didn't go to that
awful (IMHO) Australis interface (even though you can use an add-on to
partially mitigate that).

I'm late here but Srware make Iron - a chrome recompile without the
phonehome features, they say.
