Looking for feedback on Progressive auto insurance.

Most reviews that I have seen are negative.

I had them 30 years ago. They defrauded me on a claim.
Never toughed them since.

I use Nationwide for both home and auto. I have never
had to make a claim on a car. But I have made two
claims on the house. They were totally decent with me.
Created a lot of loyalty after AAA misdeeds.

Hi David,

I renew mine 6 months at a time. Never looked to see if
I could pay for a whole year

AAA had just started the AAA approved service centers.
These centers came with an AAA warrantee for their work. I
had a carburetor rebuilt at one such approved facility.
They forgot to seat (grind) the gas piston, so the carburetor
overflowed with gas and the car caught fire destroying the
car. (It was a trip to have the carburetor backfire and
the whole front of the car catch fire while taking my wife to the movies.)

It was an idiot mistake on the part of the mechanic.
It was also in the rebuild kit directions but who read such.
The fire departments report clearly stated the fire started
in the carburetor.

AAA hauled my car off and stated that they were off the
hook as the fire was caused by blow back out the transmission
fill tube that caught fire on the catalytic converter.
They then claimed my car was a total loss and so sorry, here
is about $800 (I forget how much exactly). And suddenly
my car disappeared from the face of this earth, so no
double checking. Under the approved program, they were
liable for the "replacement" of my car.

Well, since catalytic converters did not exist on my year's
model (or any model of that year) and I had the fire department's
report, and I had the real good case to sue the ever living s***
out of sorry assed criminals for "bad faith", but I did not
have the finances to go after them.
