I noticed that today's Win10 update replaced MS Edge with Chromium Edge.
They took a long time to do that.

It doesn't matter to me. As far as I'm concerned, it's just as bad as
the old Edge, and I never use it unless some site doesn't work in FireFox.

You could've downloaded it yourself to install the Chromium-based Edge.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

According to web.archive.org, Microsoft has offered the "new" Edge since
mid-January 2020.

Of course, you could install Google's Chrome. I've had it for awhile as
my secondary web browser. Firefox is my primary web browser.

I don't understand why you can't read simple message about these newsgroups. You can either plonk my posts and move on or you can start using Thunderbird with HTML enabled. HTML is a requirement to read my posts.

You can install all three Microsoft browsers side by side simultaneously:

And why bother with Google Chrome, IMHO, when SRWare Iron (and likely
others) exist which are the same (AFAIK) but without the spyware (AFAIK)?

I almost always use Firefox. If that doesn't work, I try Chromium (opera
used to be good, now it's not much more than an old version of
Chromium). I almost never use Edg, just noticing what happened.

Yes. I actually had it even earlier. IIRC, v75.

According to web.archive.org, Microsoft has offered the "new" Edge since

It's been available. This is just when it came in Win10 updates
(strangely, the Win 7 systems got it earlier).

Same here.

Jack Sprat etc
I have no problem with Chrome Edge. It is quite fast on my desktop, but I
use Firefox as it has the ability to open tabs with left-click-only. So
Edge is my 'other' browser.
On the other hand Edge is my default browser on my android phone mainly
because of its GUI.
AND I prefer Bing as my searcher (and home page)

Yes, same here with the change taking place last week (no option
unless you knew the update number for this and only approved certain
updates).

Cue the blizzard of "I hate Edge although I never use it" posts from
the usual suspects - oh yes, here they are!

Much better user settings for fonts in the Chromium version, giving
me some hassle as to what to set as Tampermonkey options - I see
Stylish is offered as a chrome extension as an alternative to
Tampermonkey - what do users on here prefer?

As a temporary workaround I've disabled/removed Sylish etc. for the
time being just relying on user settings for default offered by the
system as installed. Sans-serif fonts etc. I see darker themes are
popular among browser users generally - why? I find them harder to
view as a long term choice.

Are you one of those with "Ken" somewhere in their username? Doesn't
look like it - that's a handy rule for constructing a regular

what on Earth are you talking about?

It’s simple: I use a variety of computers, mostly Mac, but some Windows and
Linux. I use Firefox as my normal web browser on all of them. Apple doesn’t
care; if I wanted to, I could even delete Safari completely without problems.
Ubuntu and Mint don’t care. Microsoft cares, and tries desperately to force
Edge. If I click on a web search result from the search box in the Start
Menu, for example, Edge launches. So I don’t click there. I get little
pop-ups and banners and crap trying to get me to switch to the ‘best
browser for Windows’;
I kill them. On several occasions after a major Windows update, my default
browser has somehow changed to Edge; I change it back. If I could nuke Edge
completely off of ny Windows systems I would. I don’t do Edge. I don’t do
Chrome. Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi aren’t my browsers of choice, though at
least one of them would be on my various machines.

Changed your nym again? If anyone here doesn't know it, that's standard
practice of trolls, to escape from people's killfiles.

But it doesn't bother me. I can, and do, add the new nym to my killfile
faster than he can change it.

I do, but only very seldom, when some poorly-written web site isn't
compatible with FireFox.

I don’t do
Chrome.

Nor do I. As far as I'm concerned, Chrome is terrible--only slightly
better than Edge.

Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi aren’t my browsers of choice, though at

I never use any of those--only FireFox, and as I said, very occasionally
Edge.
