Does Teamviewer depend on the Net to know one's Your ID?

My brother just called and for, I think, the first time, I couldn't fix
him up, wrt Windows.

When he started teamviewer, the box for "Your ID" was blank.

(When I started mine, it was blank for a second and then filled in with
my usual numbers.)

Later he found the icon for Gmail and it said he wasn't connected to the
internet. Could that be the reason Your ID was blank in TeamViewer.

I thought that the Teamviewer Your ID was inside my computer, but maybe
they send it to me each time I start TViewer. Any guesses????

I thought maybe the whole internet was down for him but he tried to get
on two days ago too, with the same problems

--
His printer wasn't working (again) and he called some Geek who actually
came out, but now the E for Edge is missing from the bottom of his
screen; when he searched for Edge and found it, something else went
wrong; and the TeamViewer Your ID is blank. Does it sound like the
Geek messed something up, maybe?

I just disabled my Ethernet connection and ran TeamViewer. It was as you
say, not showing 'Your ID' or 'Password'.

Thanks. I should have thought of that!

There were still other discrepancies. But maybe the lack of the net is
responsible for them

I had him look for unplugged router or disconnected wires and he didn't
find any.

I said he could read his gmail on the phone, and he said he does that
sometimes (but he doesn't think he gets all the mail that way. That's
not possible is it?),

But he had to renew his drivers license. I said you can do that on the
phone, By that time he'd had enough.

We'll see what happens tomorrow. Hmmm. This means he hasn't read the
emails I sent him about his son, stuck in Peru. And his wife I don't
think ever reads her email, and her voicemail is always full. What a
pair they are.

Thanks again.

Today my brother, who uses win10, called again and his internet is back.
I should have asked if he did something or it just appeared, but I
didn't.

And the "Your ID" is filled in again, just like Patrick and I figured,
but when he clicked on Connect, he got a message that he was using the
wrong number. How he could be using the wrong number I don't know, but
he did move from Hollywood to Tamarac Fl, not very far, and conceivably
may have changed internet providers?? It said or we assumed it was the
Your ID number. The procedure for resetting the number appears
several times on the web so he must not be the only one whose number got
changed. But the procedure is complicated: Uninstall TeamViewer,
delete all its files, and delete two keys from the registry. Then
restart windows and reinstall TV. I can do that but he can't.

And I can't do it without remote control so I looked for another Remote
Control program. I can't, can I???, use the one built into win10
because I only have win7 now. And all the others I found are free only
for 2 to 4 weeks. That's probably enough time to fix TeamViewer, IF
nothing goes wwrong

Any other remote contriol program that's decent and always free. Or
even one you recommend even if it's only free for a short while???

Then he has to make an appointment at the florida DMV. He gets some
negative message and the computer hums!! His wife says to buy a new
computer -- she said that the last time he had problems too; she's
always ready to throw money at a problem, or a non-problem -- but I
convinced him it's the other end that has the problem.

But what I"m asking about is, are there any problem webpages that also
make a sound when you try to it? He's using Edge and the url is
https://ventusappointment.com/Bookin...g/Index/fl34hs
I get "Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to ventusappointment.com.
PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the
authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."

But no sounds.

Even when I just enter https://ventusappointment.com , it never comes
back.

But Firefox/Win7 doesn't make noise when I go to those urls. Have you
ever heard of a web page error page making a hum or other noise?

It's bad enough that you're stupid in an off-topic thread. You've got a
lot of nerve being stupid in an on-topic thread about a windows problem
I have.

On the slim chance you'll apologize or repent, I'll read one more post
from you in th is thread.

Otherwise, kerplunk.
