Default What is the Screen Capture Hotkey?

I am told that f12 is a screen capture hot key, but I
haven't found any viable results from utilizing this
supposed standard. Is there a means by which I might
perform a simple screen capture using non-modified Windows
XP software that comes with a Dell?

Just use the Print Screen key (PrtScr on my keyboard) to copy the screen to
the clipboard. Then open MS Paint or your favorite image program and paste
it there. You can then edit or print from that application.
