Default Webcam and MSN Messenger 6.1

When I try sending my webcam to my contacts, I get the following message:

"we are unable to run the Audio/video tuning..."

I also get the same message if i try to run the wizard from the tools-menu.

I can not see that there is anything different with the installation on XP
from the one I have on Win2000. And in Win2000 the webcam option is working
fine.

Anyone know how to fix this in XP?

Thanx in advance.

(Config: WinXP Pro, AMD Duron 1300, MSI K7TPro, 512MB RAM, Logitech Quickcam
Messenger)

How many firewalls?
Only one should be used.
XP firewall has been known to block in/out video and audio.
Two people I know had problems with one could hear the other while the other
could not hear him.
Disabled XP firewall and everything worked.

I can have either video or sound with messenger but not both.
I am running XP with a broadband connection and the xp firewall is enabled.
How do i make it work.
If the answer lies with firewall or NAT settings please explain how to set them.

Windows XP with the firewall engaged should not stop you from
connecting. And NAT is?? Norton bla bla bla? If you mean NAV, then
me and a friend both have logitech cameras, both XP, me with XP
firewall and him with Zone Alarm firewall, and both of us use NAV, and
we can do both audio and video at the same time. (though video is
almost useless because I am at dial-up speed) He also has used a
separate mic plugged into his sound card and disabled the logitech mic
in the webcam.

When we first tried to connect about a week and a half ago, we could
not do voice - MSN kept saying "connecting with Donald", but after a
minute of trying, it aborted. (we were regular users of Yahoo
Messenger - no voice or vid probs) We tried for 4 days. Finally 7
days after the 1st attempt, I gave it one last shot before giving up
on it, and suddenly we could connect through the voice channel. A very
fast connect too. Weird, very weird. We didn't change anything on
our machines. Someone told me we must have.

Your problem is the 1st I've heard with those symptoms. You can
connect with a friend voice, but if so then you try a video connection
at the same time and it won't work. If you turn off voice, you can
connect video, but then you can't restart voice. Is that what is
happening?.

Are you using a modern webcam, like a logitech, with sound and video
built in together and using a USB port? It shouldn't make a
difference even if you use a separate mic plugged into the sound card.
But I just thought I'd ask.
