Default network wizard won't start

Hi,

I have recently cleared a virus on a XP machine in the
office, and removed some of the registry using regedit.
After that, the network connection died (no lan
connection is possible). As I try to setup the connection
again, the "Network Setup Wizard" will not start after I
close the "new connection wizard". I cannot find the
recovery disk for XP. Is there anyway to recover that
wizard without installation disks etc? Please kindly let
me know. Thanks in advance

Usually this happens when your Network Connections folder is emtpy, try
fixing that first...

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.

Default network wizard won't start

Hi,

Like you've mentioned, the Network Connections folder is
empty, so I try to reinstall the Lan network card and
then reboot the system to create a new connection.

The network connection wizard started, and I've followed
the instructions to create connectino to an existing
network. However, when it tries to open the "Network
Setup Wizard", it never opens and the network connection
folder remains empty.

I've also tried restarting the Network Connection Service
and Remote access connection Manager. It's on "manual
start" at the moment. However, it gives me an error
prompt with error number 3 and error number 1068
respectively.

The Lan card seems to be working since the hardware
wizard detected its presence after I uninstall it and
reboot the system. I do have other XP machines on site,
will copying certain files from these working machines
help to fix the problem? Please advice. Thanks in
advance.

Same problem here.

Network connections folder is empty.
Network runs fine by the way.

Trying to start the network services manually it gives
error 126.

Please advice.
Thanks,
Gerwin

Error 3: path not found.

Which service gave you this error or both?
