Default XP Home networking steup

I am trying to connect my two computers, both running XP
Pro so I can share my internet connection, printer and
files. However whenever I try to run the Set Up Home
Networking wizard on one of the computers - the one with
the internet connection - i get the error message:

"Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

The wizard then stops and although i can now use the
internet on both machines i cannot share the files or
printers.
Can anybody help me resolve this problem please?

This is invariably caused by using the "Setup a Home or Small Office Network" wizard. Microsoft articles 324757/810894 do not resolve the problem and send novice users into the registry.

Instead download the utility posted by Brother Ltd which repairs the spooler:
