Default File sharing without loging in

For some reason I have 2 computers with xp pro and a shared directory on 1 of
the computers that works great so long as the computer with the shared
directory has someone logged in at the terminal, but fails whenever I try to
access the share without having someone logged in at the terminal.

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by terminal? Terminal Services? Remote Desktop? Well, there
is a setting in the group policy client server data redirection in
Administrative Templates. If you turn that thing disable, your drivers in
your workstation will not load while you remote desktop to another computer.
I think most likely your problem is you have two separate accounts. To share
something, you must have same account or will not work.

Ok, when I sit down at the computer with the file share on it, and login
using any user account on the computer.... all of the other computers
networked to the file share can access the files that they are allowed to
access. When windows xp pro is displaying the login srceen (on the computer
that holds the file share), none of the networked computers can access the
file share.
-- all user accounts on all networked computers are same
Does that make more sense?

It kind of make sense. To best of my knowledge, I think your Windows XP Pro
must have a login name and password as same as all other computers. Then
let's say different computers have different administrator login name and
password. All right, now you have to go each computer and change the Admin
login name and password so when you try to login to a file share in the
computer it asks username and password of the login name. You enter admin
login name and password. That way you can log in to a share. So let's say you
have a user called TOM login by using his login name and password. So when he
logs in and try to access a share on another computer, he enters the Admin
login name and password to get the file. I think your Windows XP Pro which
holds the share does not have a admin login name and password. You can set an
adim login name and password by right clicking my computer, go to users and
groups, then you will see Administrator. RIGHT CLICK On administrator then
click on set password. It just gives you a warning that you will not able to
use some files or folders, something like that. Do not worry about it if you
are login to that computer using your own login name called TOM and a
password. So, I hope this helps and I am not clear the question you are
asking. So make sure you have the same administrator login name and password
that hold your share in WIN XP PRO and also the computers in the network has
the same login name and password for the admin as your WINDOWS XP PRO that
holds that share.

------------------ SEE, OKAY I THINK I GOT IT. ACCOUNTS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE
SAME IN ALL OF YOUR COMPUTERS, IT IS GOOD IF SO + YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT
ADMINISTRATOR OKAY, ADMINISTRATOR IN EVERY COMPUTER HAS THE SAME USER NAME
AND PASSWORD TO SHARE A FILE ---------------------------

Change your Administrator login name and password in every computer that
attached to your network.
