Laptop usd at home and at work
I have a laptop (Win XP Home) on an home network, and I also use it at work
on a small office network (5 PC's). I want to be able to share My Documents with the home network (for Back Up purposes) but NOT with the office network (- I have a separate folder for this). Is there way of doing this (in Win XP Home) without having to change the share status everytime I change networks? Thanks for taking time to think about this. |

Use NTFS permissions to control access to the data. You don't need to worry about someone "seeing" a share - you just need to make sure they can't access it. Also note that you can hide shares by naming them share$ (dollar sign makes it hidden from browsing). |

XP Home does not have the Group Policy Editor to create the fine-grained permissions one can in Pro. Perhaps that's what you meant?
