my network places doesn't work

my network places doesn't open. the mouse gets the busy hourglass then
nothing happens. i can still use the entire network, just can get into the
network places. i can get to another pc if i type in it \\name in the
address bar.

i'm running xp pro sp2

can anyone help out on this??

This is usually a Computer Browser issue (I've experienced it myself!).
Run through MVP Hans-Georg Michna's troubleshooter to narrow down the
issues:

I have had netork browser problems ever since installing SP2 on my 3
machines - I will be interested to se how you get on !!
