New Install of XP SP2-DSL Slooooowww-Out of ideas
Howdy all
I just installed a fresh copy of win xp sp2 on my new athlon 64 system with a sata hard drive and earthlink 3mbps DSL. I am using a Linksys router. My previous system, web pages would just show up when i clicked a link or type an address. With my new setup I get a 10-15 second delay before a page shows up,if it shows up. Everything is just so damn slow i cant stand it. I dont have any of the power saving features on,I have no programs running in the background. I have a gig of ram and am using the network card built into my motherboard. Any clue what I could try? |

UPDATE!!! New Install of XP SP2-DSL Slooooowww-Out of ideas
Ok,I managed to find a speed test that wasnt bogged down and it rated me at 2139 kbps so i am not doing bad on speed. My problem is jsut that web pages take my browser forever to load. Sometimes they go quickly, sometimes they either error out or take 20 seconds to load. At times,it is almost like my connection goes to sleep or something, but all my power saver settings are off including the one to turn of the NIC.Anyone have any idea what this could be? It was working fine 2-3 weeks ago when i installed win xp on the system and has hit rock bottom today. I know I have no viruses or spyware too. "RH" wrote in message ink.net... Possible MTU issue especially for PPPoE connections. See:
