Computer problem;
And access to (the important) icon's in control Panel are not opening up. I'n
not able to access the log off/shut down box thus, having to leaving computer on and not manually turning it off, as that would lead to other problem's. I have no bottom bar, via Task (?). I can still use the web and see only the icon's in control panel, etc.When I do try to access any of the incon's, all I get is a very fast blink of a box, like a camera flash or something. I don't have the MS cd for this computer, and a Compaq is being listed as the administraor, why? I bought the tower, I should be the administraot. All that's on the desktop is a all red background, with no start button, no desktop icon's and no bottom bar on my screen. I just hit the Connect button on this keyboard for the web, and just use this one window to do whatever. And if I was to hit (-) and not (x) the window would disappear downward. So I can only use that small window button between (-) and (x) to check for any possible pop-up's. My computer is a new puo27av - SR1010Z, bought on 2/3/05 from my local "Staples" store. I've only had this in my possession the last (72) hour's, for which I've been awake through it all trying to set it up, deal with uploads, surfing the web, whatever. Can you help me recover my windows or something? my email address: , and contact info, etc. is on my website at: http://www.jeffreydavidmorris.com -- jeffreydavidmorris.com |

That should bring up the Run box. Type the following and press Enter restore/rstrui.exe That should start System Restore. Use the Wizard to roll back to a date when the computer was working correctly. Of course this problem could be related to a virus. If System Restore doesn't work or help then do a reinstall of your system. When you purchased it you were given instructions on how to Restore your computer. Use the process outlined in your manual. Or contact Staples and ask them for assistance. -- Harry Ohrn MS-MVP [Shell/User] www.webtree.ca/windowsxp |
