pc crashes
Win XP Home
It was working fine till this morning. When I turn my PC on, it would display WinXP start up screen, then turns off itself. I haven't installed any HW or SW lately. What could cause this problem, HW or SW? |

If it turns off abruptly, with the monitor just going black, I would suspect
hardware, perhaps overheating. Open up your computer and then turn it on. The fan sitting on your mainboard should spin from the moment you power on. Dust accumulation over time can build up to the point that the fan cannot get spinning. Get some "canned air" at a computer store and blow out the dust, carefully. Let us know if the problem persists. "Tom" wrote in message ... Win XP Home It was working fine till this morning. When I turn my PC on, it would display WinXP start up screen, then turns off itself. Thanks Waters,
I'll do that, but I have 1 more question. My mistake, it actually not turns off, instead it restarts itself, then I'd get the screen where I can select between safe mode and other options. "T. My best advice is to back up everything you want to keep immediately!
My old computer did that for about a week. I thought it was a software conflict that I didn't problem solved correctly and was getting ready to take it to my local technician. The hard drive died before I got it there, so now I'm "up a creek without a paddle". sf `````````` On Fri, 8 Apr 2005 11:09:04 -0700, Tom wrote: Thanks Waters, I'll do that, but I have 1 more question.
