trust relationship between XP and NT4 server
Upon updating PDC NT4 SP6a server, had a crash and resumed. Most clients lost trust relationship (probably the SID changed), NT and 2K went OK just rejoining the domain. XP clients don't. Tried everything, changing name, IP, also clearing DNS and WINS cache. Even updating or refreshing OS. Also tried NETDOM command, no use. After using NETDOM (which responded "operation succeded")first access from srvmanager sayd "the computer doesn't have the necessary priviledges .,...." subsequent clicks sayd simply "access denied". Clients log on server' domain, accept server's authentication, but don't let any remote operation by servermanager ("access denied"). No other client can access any shared folder of these XP clients, not even the PDC. Message is always "access denied" "lost trust relationship" etc. NT and 2K clients are 100% OK, allow remote administration and sharing etc. If anybody can help, please write. trust relationship between XP and NT4 server
What service pack level is on the XP Pro computers?? Where you able to
unjoin the XP Pro computers from the domain to a workgroup, reboot, and then join them to the domain again?? Can they ping the domain controller by name and /or IP address?? Make sure that wins is working correctly and that the domain controller and XP Pro computers are wins clients. Running the support tool netdiag may be helpful on the XP Pro computers. -- Steve "rterte" wrote in message ... Upon updating PDC NT4 SP6a server, had a crash and resumed. trust relationship between XP and NT4 server
-Hi, - Unjoined, also waited for computers to disappear from server manager, rebooted and joined succesfully. Srver manager shows them blu - Ping is OK, both name and IP - XP actually have SP1 - Wins on server states Wins is working properly at every rebbot. - Will try the utility. What can I search for in particoular ? (PS: another client, XP recently joined, has no problem at all. ALL XP's previously present have the same syndrome) Thank you .
