Default The print spooler service is not running

I have an employee in my office, whose printers suddenly disappeared from his
computer. Upon trying to add a new printer, he gets the message,The print
spooler service is not running. When you check the services, it says it is
running. I have run the cleanspl program, we have tried to manually do it,
all to no avail. We cannot add a printer. I have been looking online for
three days for a fix for his computer. I have Any ideas?

Do the following two commands:

StartRuntype NET STOP SPOOLER and press OK

StartRuntype NET START SPOOLER and press OK

Now try again.

I think he has tried this. I will get him to do it if he hasn't done so.

I'm having the same problem with the print spooler not running. Even after I
stop and then start the spooler like Byte wrote. What do I do now? It started
doing this after downloading the latest updates. I am trying to print from a
computer on a network. The Epson printer that I'm trying to print to is
directly connected to the Host computer and I have no problem printing with
the Host computer.

Default The print spooler service is not running

The spooler stopping is almost always due to corrupted printer drivers.
Uninstall and reinstall the printer.

I tried all of those things. There is no printer to uninstall.
I had to use my Widows XP CD to boot up the computer, start to go through
the install procedure, after accepting the license agreement by hitting F8,
it searched for previous installations of Windows, I selected repair Windows.
After it went through the repair and rebooted, All was just like it was
before the problem started. I did all of the Windows Updates, added his
printers and went about my other tasks.
