Just went through that with a corrupted OE. You go to File, and Create (new
personality). Name it whatever, and then after you're over the shock of seeing an empty, new OE w/o folders, etc....just go to File/Import/Messages from your OE version---it will bring them in to your new Identity. Then, Import/Address Book. You'll have to go back (Switch Identities) and remove the mail, etc. but write down what you've put into your News and Mail Accounts. Good luck. Hi Rock
Please don't consider that I was having a pop at you personally, I do understand that you are one of the people who give up their time to help others in need of assistance, and do give out very good advice too. I was trying to point out mainly to "Ayush", that unfortunately sometimes using a dedicated NG to answer your specific post can bear little results, and I do find subscribers to these groups tolerant and willing to give advice to most topics. What are they? I've never | had mail like this before, is it a new way to send junk mail? if so what's | the purpose? | | -- | | | Regards | p.mc | | It's a "Basic" question that I'd like "Help and support" with. I do consider myself in the "New user " category, and it also applies in "General" questions. Sometimes you don't get an answer in the idyllic N/G, plus I consider these N/G's generally very helpful and considerate. So I feel absolutely justified to crosspost. But I do accept your reasoning. Rock [ MVP User/Shell] wrote The help_and_support group is for the help_and_support function in XP, that is Start | Run, Help and Support. (snip) I've just done...Start | Run, Help and Support. And a command prompt window displays for a fraction of a second then disappears, but I can access help and support centre from a windows page?? (although true, this is the sort of question that should be posted to this NG) It's not a group intended for basic help questions. You should post to the most appropriate newsgroup. In this case an Outlook Express specific newsgroup. Ah! right I didn't know that. I thought it was referring to XP users as a community who acquired help and support. Considering OE is packaged with XP and covered in the help and support centre but not exactly my question, couldn't I be forgiven for posting In the "help_and_support" NG as many, many, other posters use this NG for *non* support specifically for "help_and_support" function in XP? Also on the 7/10/06 we discussed a similar topic about me posting to "microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player", which I already did on the 6/10/06. It's now the 10/10/06 and guess what? still no advice from there. So I will reiterate what I wrote to "Ayush". (I quote) "Sometimes you don't get an answer in the idyllic N/G, plus I consider these N/G's generally very helpful and considerate. So I feel absolutely justified to crosspost". -- Regards p.mc I was just trying to point out what the newsgroup was for so that in the future you can post to the best newsgroup(s) for the issue. Besides it doesn't help either the OP or the other posters when groups get posts that belong elsewhere. All that does is increase the traffic unnecessarily. I was just trying to give you some info is all. -- Rock [ MVP User/Shell] |
