XP Home SP2 Fax Console unable to send faxes and always say line b
Would software such as Ventafax or WINFAX solve this problem? I assume the
modem has issues.

12. Why do my Fax transmissions fail so often? I've not used VentaFax, so I don't know anything about it. WinFax hasn't worked correctly with Windows XP since version 9 and Symantec no longer supports it, I'd be very cautious about attempting to use it. I figured it out. This is what I did, go to phone and modem options through
the control panel, choose the modem(double click) change the speed to 9600. This did the trick. "rllngriver" wrote: Would software such as Ventafax or WINFAX solve this problem? I assume the modem has issues.

Maybe you didn't select "TONE" or "Pulse" correctly in Telephone and Modem Option - Location Tab , or FAX modem is not hooked to "PHONE" jack of ADSL line splitter if you are in ADSL connecton for internet.
