Limited Font Selection in Appearance Advanced Settings... Why?
Hi. I recently installed Ubuntu Linux on an old server unit my father sent to
me for the sake of messing around with, and while I was playing around with the appearance settings in KDE (which I favor over GNOME, but that's a story for another support forum entirely), I found a very nice-looking font that looked great as a title bar font (specifically URW Chancery L Medium Italic, a Postscript Type 1 font). I wanted to use the same font for the title bar on my Windows XP installation, which I've been running on my main computer. The only issue is that, apparently my font selection when changing said font in the Display Properties' appearance tab advanced options (boy, is that a mouthful) is extremely limited, being restricted to a few Sans-serif fonts and, strangely enough, MS (P)Mincho in addition. For the record, as I tend to download a lot of content from native Japanese sites, not only do I have East Asian Language support installed, but I've also changed the locale settings for my system to Japanese in addition to support Shift-JIS encoded Japanese text. Would this be contributing to the issue? Overall, is there any way to use a font not listed when changing the appearance of my windows with my current configuration? Thanks in advance. Luv ya all. 3 |

Limited Font Selection in Appearance Advanced Settings... Why?
*1st*, change your locale settings back to Eng. Reboot your pc. now u can see there're lotta fonts available in the 'advanced appearance'. simply change the default font of your system to the font you like(kinda Chancery ?),then you may be satisfied about the hack if things goes well as i did. *2nd*, change your locale settings to Jap. Reboot your pc again. *finally*,just enjoy! -- morganlee ------------------------------------------------------------------------ morganlee's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?u=52619 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=811775 http://forums.techarena.in |
