Default DVDRW Drive won't show up on burning software

I have a Lite-On LH-20A1L SATA DVDRW drive and it will read cd's and
dvd's all day long but for some reason it will not show up in my
xilisoft cd burner, mediamonkey, xilisoft avi to dvd software. I can
still use WMP to burn cd's but I would rather not use WMP. I hit up
lite-ons customer support who told me to delete the upperfilter in the
registry and that didn't seem to do anything at all. The device says it
is working properly and the drivers are up to date and all. I also
checked to make sure the device was clean and was plugged in correctly,
and all is good. What am i missing? I know it has to be something really
dumb too. any help is appreciated thank you.

Since SATA DVD devices are relatively new (compared to plain ATA/IDE
devices), some software might not recognize them.

Try contacting the making of the software, not the hardware. Most CD/DVD
buring software has some limitiations about the hardware it will recognize.
I use Easy CD Creator and it has had several updates to add support for
newer hardware. If you are lucky, your software vendor will have such an
update (free). Or, they mau suggest that you upgrade (i.e., buy a newer
version).

You should have removed all burning software from your computer before
deleting upper/lower filters. Use the QuickFix option in this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 after you unistall all burning
software (example: Nero, Roxio, iTunes) from your system proceed with the
quickfix. Once your done it, then reboot your computer. You can now
reinstall your software into your system and test to see if your issue has
been resolved. As for what Bob Harris replied regarding SATA and IDE
interface is *wrong* and doesn't matter in any situation with burning
software and as usual Peter Foldes never gives enough info. or good advice.
Good Luck to you Shenanigans!
