Default Video viewing problems

For some reason i cannot get to see videos on some sites using ie7.
I just see a blank white box where the video content should be, with an icon
in the top left of the box.
The icon has a red square, and a blue circle and triangle in it.

If I use mozilla firefox to view the same site then I can see the video ok.

If anyone can advise then that would be great

Am using xp, and use the Microsoft Updates regularly

Cheers

If I can view the sites using Mozilla Firefox I should be able to see them
using IE7. If a codec needs to be installed why does Firefox allow me to
view the vids but not IE7.

Surely the problem lies with IE7 and not WMP11.

Or maybe not!
