spaces between letters in a justified word docuements
wrote in message ... When I print a justified XP word document, there are some spaces between letters, different from the screen. If you use full justification, the space between characters or words has to vary to get the square right edge. Newspapers do it all the time. Most people use left-justification with ragged right edges. This has nothing to do with the operating system. It has to do with how the printer tries to faithfully reproduce on the printed page what is on the screen. Some printers are better than others. Fixed width fonts such as Courier give the most trouble. Each character occupies the same width. So you have no space or one space between characters. Proportional fonts can give partial spaces between characters and words. -- Earl F. Parrish |
