Default Networking problems and passwords???

I have 3 PC's linked together with a Belkin Router, with
Broadband access to all the PC's that works fine.

1 PC is XP Pro, 1 XP home and 1 is Win 98. the XP PC's
can "see" the 98 PC and have full access to the fiels and
printers. the XP PC's however do not see each other, I
have ensured that the ICF (firewall) seeting are
disabled. each PC has the same login and password for
each user.

The Win 98 PC, whe attempting to access the XP PC's is
asked for a password??, no user password is accepted

Any suggestions would be gratefully received

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the XP computers to fully enable file
sharing. After that, XP Home should allow access by 98 with no
prompt.

If you've disabled "simple file sharing" on XP Professional, it will
check the logged-in user name on Win 98. In that case, create a user
account on XP Pro with the same user name and password that you use to
log into 98.

Default Networking problems and passwords???

Thanks for the help. still have one problem tho'

I have run the Wizard and now have access between
the "XP Home" PC and the "Win 98" PC, but I am still
unable to get access to the "XP Pro" PC. I am able to see
the PC in the network Neighborhood, but when I try to
open the XP Pro PC I get a dialog box that says

\\XPpro is not accessible
No persmission to access resource

I have created a new profile on the XPPro PC that matches
the logon and password for the Win 98 PC

Try un-sharing and re-sharing the disks/folders on the XPPro PC. That
will re-set the share permissions and should solve the problem.

If it doesn't, take a look at this site:

Windows XP Professional File Sharing
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...ring/index.htm

It has a detailed description of the two types of permissions used in
XPPro: network permissions, and NTFS file system permissions.
