Default the network cannot be reached

In Windows XP, When I try to connect to other computer
by "running" '\\computer_name' windows answers: "the
network cannot be reached" (error 53). If instead of the
computer name I use its IP address, it opens.
Also, if I do a ping to an ip address it works fine, but
if I do a ping to a computer name it never respond.
Seems to be that name resolution is not working, but I
have DNS configured the asme as others computers in the
network and those computers does not have problems.

Please help!

Thanks.

Adal.

Default the network cannot be reached

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Dhcp]

This service needs to be running

if it is, check blackviper.com there is a file there -
!BVsProDescriptions.reg

search for DNS and make sure the needed services are running.

I have an static IP, so I don't need DHCP...

Even thought, the service is running and also all DNS
services. I don't understand why I cannot access any
computer using its name.
