Default SMTP and PHP

Hi,

computer on which i develop web applications (in PHP 5.2.4) is a windows
XP based including also Apache server 2.24.

My PHP web applications need to send emails and therefore i would like
to test it on my development machine.

For that reason i thought that IIS-SMTP component could do the job.
I was thinking to setup a virtual SMTP server but i'm not successful.

Where could i find detailed documentation or tutorials about how to
setup IIS-SMTP to work with apache server and PHP ?

thanks a lot,

Al.
