Transfer Outlook express data from XP to a Windows 8 computer
I have passed down my unused computers to a friend with
limited financial resources. He has been using one of my XP computer for over 6 years and has been very happy with it.. Some bad things happened to his XP computer. He called me in distress! With some arm twisting I made him purchase a semi-assembled Intel Pentium G3220 3.0GHz, 4GB computer. I had one tetrabyte hard disk collecting dust which I installed. Purchased system builders 8.1 This is what I did to get the email contacts and folders into the Win 8 system Install thunderbird on his XP computer. Import everything from Outlook express. Copy the thunderbird folder from documents and settings to an external drive. Now connect this drive to the Win 8.1 system DO NOT install thunderbird on 8.1 until a later stage. Copy the thunderbird folder to C:\Users\Jay\AppData\Roaming (Jay is my friends name) Now install Thuderbird. The outlook imported folders will be in the folders list. POP account worked fine. I had make some changes to the SMTP entries He uses primus. HS |

Why give up Outlook Express?
https://sites.google.com/site/simple...look-express-6 Run email through a separate spam filter program before opening OE6. Use text for receiving and sending for security. After installing search the registry for "Message Read HTML" and change it to 0 to read in plain text. -- Bill Brought to you from Anchorage, Alaska HS wrote: I have passed down my unused computers to a friend with limited financial resources. Transferring profile is tricky Just copy the thuderbird folder from the xp folder to in roaming folder of win 7 or 8 new computer and do a fesh install of thunderbird. HS |
